Buffalo Museum of Science: Frog Dissection

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with another blog post, this one about the dissecting a frog. I went a couple of days ago find out the biology of frogs, and learned that frogs are one of the most mutate-able creatures on Earth, and that scientists regularly use them to check the amount of pollution in an area. While I didn't get to dissect a two headed frog, however, I did learn that most frogs have fatty livers, and that they also have more flexible skin to put fat into, meaning that unlike us, they can put all their organs very close together. We also learned about why the tongue of the frog is mounted on the front part of the mouth instead of the back (to snap the tongue out, grab something, then snap it back in and have it go down the throat), and why frogs have two eyelids (so they can see underwater without having to blink).

The beginning of the dissection.

That's Adventure Van, signing out.
