The Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs: Book Report

Hey guy's, it's Adventure Van here with a blog post about DINOSAURS! (yayyyy) Well, it's not about dinosaurs, but the Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs (And other prehistoric creatures) is a very concise book with all of the separate periods of time from the first creatures to come from the ocean to the destruction of the dinosaurs. With 8 sectors worth of information and 110+ chapters, there isn't a lot left out of this book. While it's clear and easy to read, it has plenty of info that may interest even the most uninterested in the subject. If you know someone who loves learning about dinosaurs, I'd recommend to check it out, which you can do here.

That's Adventure Van, dropping out.

3-D Printing: The future that's come to the present.

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with a blog post about 3-D printing. It's an amazing process, and while it's a still in progress invention, it's very awesome for creating miniature things, and parts of large things. It's a great community, as well, with places like Thingiverse around to share and create models. 3d printed things have great use, being used for anything to tape holders to custom made support systems for cars! It's great to live in a time where technology is this great! One can only hope that they'll get better.

This is Adventure Van, beaming up.

Buffalo Museum of Science: Frog Dissection

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with another blog post, this one about the dissecting a frog. I went a couple of days ago find out the biology of frogs, and learned that frogs are one of the most mutate-able creatures on Earth, and that scientists regularly use them to check the amount of pollution in an area. While I didn't get to dissect a two headed frog, however, I did learn that most frogs have fatty livers, and that they also have more flexible skin to put fat into, meaning that unlike us, they can put all their organs very close together. We also learned about why the tongue of the frog is mounted on the front part of the mouth instead of the back (to snap the tongue out, grab something, then snap it back in and have it go down the throat), and why frogs have two eyelids (so they can see underwater without having to blink).

The beginning of the dissection.

That's Adventure Van, signing out.

BPO:Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (Drums!)

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with a blog post about DRUMS! I went and listened to several types of drums, and some non-drums. I listened to oil barrels, shoes, and animal skin, and the animal skin was the most normal of them all. I went with a good friend, and I had a great time. There were several activities there, from decorating a tambourine to playing a violin. All in all, if you're ever around Buffalo, check out the BPO today!
