Buffalo Museum of Science: Frog Dissection

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with another blog post, this one about the dissecting a frog. I went a couple of days ago find out the biology of frogs, and learned that frogs are one of the most mutate-able creatures on Earth, and that scientists regularly use them to check the amount of pollution in an area. While I didn't get to dissect a two headed frog, however, I did learn that most frogs have fatty livers, and that they also have more flexible skin to put fat into, meaning that unlike us, they can put all their organs very close together. We also learned about why the tongue of the frog is mounted on the front part of the mouth instead of the back (to snap the tongue out, grab something, then snap it back in and have it go down the throat), and why frogs have two eyelids (so they can see underwater without having to blink).

The beginning of the dissection.

That's Adventure Van, signing out.

BPO:Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (Drums!)

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with a blog post about DRUMS! I went and listened to several types of drums, and some non-drums. I listened to oil barrels, shoes, and animal skin, and the animal skin was the most normal of them all. I went with a good friend, and I had a great time. There were several activities there, from decorating a tambourine to playing a violin. All in all, if you're ever around Buffalo, check out the BPO today!

VR Blog: How the future is tommorow.

Heya, this is Adventure Van with a blog about Virtual Reality, an awesome way of gaming and learning. Going from Google Cardboard to Oculus Rift, it's not just a trending craze. The main type of VR that most people experience is using there smartphone with a cardboard folder piece that lets you look around. However, some more epic things involve awesome head sets with controllers to let you pick up and use stuff.

However, the stuff possible in the games are the funnest part. From accidentally jump scaring yourself with dinosaurs cause you didn't know you could do that, to double handing two alien ray blasters to shoot gnomes that dodge every attempt, to teleporting into an enemy with a stick to knock it out, it's always fun to just mess around!

The reason I'm talking about VR is because of VR Buffalo, a local group who is trying to bring up enthusiasm for VR to become a learning tool. Please go check them out, and I'll talk to you in the next post!

How To Survive A Performance: A Tongue in Cheek Guide

Hello, it's Adventure Van with a blog about how to survive the unsurvivable, the Performance.
  • Get 6 friends. Get them to sit around you. Make sure that you don't get shoved to the side and become a human shiel- nice person.
  • If that doesn't work, and it won't, then prepare for the reason you began reading this guide: surviving.
  •  First, bring earplugs. This works only if you are at a silent performance, a ballet, or something like that. This will buffer people talking about something entirely unrelated just loud enough for you to hear it but not loud enough to get people annoyed at them.
  • Bring a pillow. This will absorb shock from the several little kids behind you who are having a kicking contest.
  • Wear steel-toed boots. This will stop the coats, tablets, coats filled with rocks, knives, little kids, little kids with coats full of rocks holding tablets and knives, from hurting so much.
  • Wear a face mask. This will stop camera flashes and flashlights from blinding you.
  • Wear Pop-Eye like arms to stop people from stealing your armrests.
Congrats! Now you're 100% likely to survive everything except the little kid who's approaching behind you with a rock that you can't tell because you're so disconnected from reality. Why don't you stay home and look at videos of cute cats and dogs in bed? So much more comfy.

Epic Codex.

Ever wondered what makes something epic? Well, you should be me, first hand, and you should also believe in power of epicness. Some people think that epicness isn't real and that you should give up on all ideas about being epic. Don't listen to them. You're epic without even trying, you have to try not to be epic in order to not be epic. So, they're doing more work then you just convincing themselves that epicness isn't real, and you'll notice those people are being melo-dramatic, depressed, and pessimistic. So, in order to be the best person who was ever epic, you need to be the greatest as well. Attack hatred, the enemy of the uninformed, and the people who believe that you're a failure. You're not. You're one of the most epic peoples who was ever put on this earth, and nothing should stop you. Reach for your dreams if you can, but don't stop there. Help others reach their dreams as well. Don't trample on others dreams in order to reach yours, or you never will quite reach yours. In order to be epic, you don't HAVE to reach your dream. In order to be epic, you need to help others do so. That's a nice way, but there's others. Don't let your epicness disappear by losing the abilty to think about others, or you'll never be epic again. Your ability to be epic isn't judged by yourself, but by those who meet you. This isn't just humans, but animals, anything that you interact with. It doesn't matter if only one person, yourself, thinks your epic. You'll want to be epic in the eyes of millions. Never try to downgrade someone else to make your own epicness look better. The only epicness you'll be destroying is your own. It's up to you, and no problem is too big for someone as epic as you to solve. No flaw can stop you from being epic. You are the only limit, and everyone will appreciate your limit becoming higher and higher. You may make a mistake, who doesn't? Don't think all your epicness has disappeared. Build up from where you fell, and become more epic.  In the rare case that you lost all epicness, don't give up. Continue trying to be epic with all your life, and you WILL hit a higher point then where you lost it all. Epicness isn't a currency. Don't think that because your epic, you should be treated differently. Doing so goes against the idea of epicness. Don't shun those who try the wrong way to become epic, but help them. You want everyone to become epic, not to make epicness hated by those who aren't high enough. Treat everyone as epicly as you wish to become, and the epicness will flow to you. It doesn't matter what race, gender, religion, politics, or views they have, they deserve to become epic. However, if someone has an uninformed view, help them by sending information to them. If they do not wish to change their view, do not force them. Don't look down upon them, or you'll be looked down as well. That's not epic.

This epic blog/rambles of a kid, brought to you by Adventure Van.
