Changing Bodies Changing Minds: Book Review

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van with a blog about the book Changing Bodies Changing Minds, which is a book about how to be a teenager. It doesn't give cultural advice or anything like that, but more teaches you safe ways to live your life despite having a completely changed body and mindset, as the title suggests. From how puberty effects your life, to how eating disorders and substance abuse are both come by and dealt with, physical and emotional violence, and other very important information that not many kids have access to.

And it's very straightforward. It talks about slang, but it goes straight to the point and lets people know what exactly happens when you get to becoming a teenager. It also doesn't go bad or try to push a bias, except in cases of 'being safe'. The book is heavily biased to not making decisions that will ruin or end you or another persons life. Other then that, it is unbiased. And it's great at giving straight information or sources. If you want to read more about a topic, it's got many books about it. And if you need to call someone about a problem, it's got tons of sources and lines to get help.

Fire!

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with a blog about Fire! Fire is something dangerous to be avoided, right? But in all honesty, it's not that big of a threat if you're safe around it. It's even a good thing to sometimes set your arm on fire. Well, not a good thing. But a fun, non-damaging thing. You can run a line of fuel down your arm, then set it on fire. You've got three seconds before it actually starts being painful, meaning that if you brush it out before that, you can have your arm on fire for a good bit of time before actually having your arm on fire. And it's strangely an enjoyable experience. Kind of calming. Then, you'd want to brush down to put it out. And you can safely and truthfully say that you had your arm on fire.

Adventure Van realizes this seems to be implying that you should set yourself/a sibling/friend/enemy on fire. Adventure Van was given a safety course and this was done both by and in the presence of experts and proper safety. Don't set yourself or a sibling on fire with this newfound knowledge.

Enemies? That's debatable. But don't quote me.)

Barbarian Tides

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with a blog about the book TimeFrame 1500-600 BC (Barbarians Tide), which is a history book about the time period, when farming was a new invention, and roaming tribes was still the majority of mankind. But, kingdoms ranging from Greece to Egypt once again helped shape how our world works today. Barbarians helped shape those civilizations, thereby changing how our world works more then you would know. Trading routes being moved around, important supplies, people, and documents being captured or just disappearing, those all affect how the world around us works now.

Three Hundred

Hey guys, Adventure Van with a blog about the math game Three Hundred. Three Hundred is a deceivingly simple game. In it, you use a select amount of + and -es and randomized numbers to make the closest possible number to 300. You get 8 pluses and 2 minuses to work mathematical equations with. Then, you use a randomizer in the form of an eggcarton with numbers penned in the bottom and two tokens to, well, randomize a two digit number. You then choose the order of the numbers, and add or subtract them. You then do that 10 more times. If you hit 300, or comfortably close to it, you can just stop the process and hope that no one manages to get closer. And after 10, it's over. Who ever is the closest to 300 wins. And although it looks like everyone would make the same move, it's possible to get wildly different results. It's actually a fun game. I'd recommend playing it.

A Picture History of France

Hey guys, it's Adventure Van here with a blog about A Picture History of France, a book that's a good history with nice art of France, but is slightly biased for France. It has good information, and stays unbiased for the majority of the book, but there are some times where it frames either the enemy in a more negative light, or France (or its people/generals/execution methods) in a positive light. Not always, as it also favors specific governments over others, especially some of the monarchical ones. But it is still a great book that gives a decent understanding of how France worked for a good chunk of time.
