Sun Powered Electricty *Q.P*

You probably know about the love of solar panels and how useful they are, and it's true. A easy way to find it out? Buy a home with pre-installed ones. It'll help you bypass the work of installing it in the house yourself,  and you'll still have the power of the SUN letting you surf the internet. However, you'll need to remember that two houses with panels aren't the same. Remember to see if the panels are being rented or are owned. Try to aim with houses that are owning the panels, because it could affect your houses value in general or mortgage to have rented ones. Remember, that separate panels are different quality. Look up who made the panels, and make sure that the cost is worth it. And remember to check with current or estimated electric bills. And, if you're still not sure, hire a independent professional to check it out for you! If that all checks green, then go for it! You won't get many deals like it.

That's Adventure Van, currently collecting information.

Save a drop of money *Q.P*

You've probably noticed that water bills are going up. Water servicing is costing more and more according to CircleOfBlue.org, If you want to go and save some money of off this bill, you may have to spend a little bit more. Asides the options like shorter showers and not running water while not actively using it, installing a water saving device like Lower Flow Shower-heads that run on 1.5 gallons every minute can save you $73 a year, making it a worthwhile investment for those who savor every penny.

That's Adventure Van, who's currently signing out.

Pluto's Ocean? *Q.P*

Pluto may have a hidden liquid ocean underneath the icy crust. Most likely made up of Ammonia, the ocean was made when another planet hit it, this would explain the slight bulge that keeps it aligned with the Sputnik Planitia. Radioactive heat from the core of Pluto combined with the natural properties of Ammonia keeps this underground ocean liquid. The idea came from cross refrencing telescopes (ground based) and Nasa's  New Horizons  spacecraft.

How to create a Science Fair Project

Heya, it's Adventure Van with yet another blog post. I'm here to tell you how to make a repor- wait, I did that already. Well, what about something to create a report about? Haven't done that? Okay then, this will be about how to create a Science Fair Project.

Well, the first thing you have to do is pick out a thing and write about it- it's more complicated then that? Actually, you need to find a topic, something you're INTERESTED in. Then, you have to narrow it down to a subject, something DOABLE. As much as doing a report in the growing patterns about 20 separate trees sounds cool, you're going to want a project you can finish in 1-2 months.

After doing that, you'll have created the question, which you'll be making your report on. You're also going to do some RESEARCH (that has a habit of showing up) about what you're reporting on. This is not your test, it's already done research and knowledge. Then, you'll have to create a HYPOTHESIS, which is what YOU expect to happen. Then you'll just test it and write down what happened, and done! Wait, I'm forgetting something. Whoops.

See, you kinda need to create a TEST, or a project, to, well, test your hypothesis. Here's some key things to remember doing a report:
  • It's not to long or hard. Having it be either will put a drain on you, and you may not finish whatsoever.
  • There's only ONE independent. A independent is something like sunlight, a human/pet's willingness to help, and other things you can't control.
  • You have a steady control. A control is something like a flower with no fertilizer whatsoever in a fertilizer experiment. It's something to show what would happen with nothing.
And that's that! You should have a nice project to write about. Except, of course, you still have to write about it.

Well, writing isn't as fun as doing, but it's great to show off your project. Have another list to show you what I mean.
  • Title Page, for your name, the project's name, and any other important itemry.
  • For a stapled project, a Table of Contents might come in handy.
  • An Abstract is nice for condensing your project. Just write down a brief overview of your HYPOTHESIS and RESULTS.
  • An Introductory Paragraph can help with showing why you chose this topic, as well as putting in some interesting RESEARCH you found.
  • A list of Materials is good for people cross-referencing your project.
  • Putting down what you did for your TEST is good.
  • All the data. Whether or not it's in a graph form or not, people should see everything, not just what supports your HYPOTHESIS.
  • A Conclusion to show what you think of the results should be seen.
  • A Bibliography for showing websites and books you used on your quest.
  • An Acknowledgments page, for all those nice people who helped you work on it or brew coffee the night before.
The Judges are who you're aiming for, so remember to keep your project ORIGINAL,ORGANIZED,easy to realize you used the SCIENTIFIC METHOD, DOCUMENTED, DATA-BASED, SAFE, KNOWLEDGEABLE, ILLUSTRATED(graphs, charts, etc.), UNDERSTANDABLE(for them AND you, it doesn't make sense if you don't know what you're talking about), EASY TO READ, and, most of all, COMPLETE.

Well, that's done. See you mates.

How often do you go outside?

Adventure Van here, with a sad discovery. Apparently, 'Modern' kids are only spending less then a hour of time a WEEK playing outside without using their phone. It's quite disturbing, because that means children are spending less and less time out in the wilderness, won't care about it at much, and won't notice when it gets destroyed. I get out often, but I also spend a large amount of time inside on the computer. Since finding this out, I've decided to go and try to spend thirty minutes outside a day just playing, for health reasons and for gaining good experiences with the wilderness so I can care about what's happening to it. I'd recommend everyone else to go outside to a park and just relax, no matter how old you are. Even if you're too busy to go outside everyday, try once a week. Anything to make sure that you're going to care if some parking lot was going to be put in it.

This is Adventure Van, and I'm going outside. Feel free to join me.
